In Panama City,Panama so things that you might want to do are:
If you like to shop then the place for you to go is Via Espana.
you might pick up some handcrafted items at the Mercado Nacional de Artesanias, which is found in Panama Viejo, or peruse the nice array of shops on Via Espana, which is a prime shopping avenue, that I think you will enjoy!!!
If you are looking for maby a beach or a cool place to hang out:
It follows along the Pacific coast, just at the entrance of the Panama Canal. You can hop on a ferry to get to Taboga island, or hop on airplane for the 15-minute flight to Contadora Island. The city is now a big international banking community, as well as home to alot of service employees that work with the nearby Panama Canal. But Panama City is still, on the whole, a reasonably priced travel destination. Here are some smart ways to enjoy this awesome city without over spending your budget.
Weather: Panama has a warm tropical climate with cool sea breezes and little change in temperature throughout the year. The highs when you will be staying will range from 80F to 90F degrees, and it hardly ever drops below 70F degrees at night. So you and your Family will enjoy a nice warm stay!!!Scince it is a rainy season from May to December makes it posible for you to have rain showers through your stay good. During the month of may when you and your family will be there which is when the country may reduce the prices on there hotels making it a very good time for you and you kids to visit, when they are on summer vacation.
where to eat:
A spicy chicken and vegetable stew called sancocho is widely considered to be the national dish whitch I recomend you eat on your trip! Fresh local fruit is plentiful, and seafood is found on most menus in Panama. The tap water in Panama City is safe to drink so you do not have to worry.
How to get aroud:
when you arrive the best way to get around is to take taxis, which are easy to find and very cheap.
attractions:
1.you have to visit the Panama Canal, that is 30min from downtown.
2. another place that I have picked out for you to go to on your trip is the Miraflores Visitor center on the east side of the Miraflores Locks, whitch has exhibition halls, a theater and a restaurant with great views of the canal so your kids will love it and want to come back the next day with an entry fee that is reasonable: $8 for adults, $5 for students and kids 5-17, free for kids under 5.
3. A stroll or tour through Casco Viejo I also think you should visit. This neighborhood, founded in 1519, is being named a World Heritage Site.
Language:
the main language for Panama is spanish but some people do speak english but I would still learn a few spanish words before you leave.
Money:
the Balboa is the money used in Panama, they do use the U.S dollar, so you do not have to switch over your money before leaving.
Remember if you would like to take your family to the pacific beaches that are about an hour away you can travel by bus for $50 dollars
Enjoy Your Trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
